Intellect vs. Verbal skills

As I've understood it very intelligent people generally don't have very good communication skills. Mostly verbally I think?

So what happens if a person pursues a more intellectual path and more or less stops communicating verbally with others. Does that person then trade his verbal skills for intellect?

  1. As i see it verbal-expression and intellectuality aren't are not opposites, therefore lack/abundance of one of these in no way represents the abundance/lack of the other, therefore both of these skills may exist at the same time in a Human.

Then on the other hand, Communication is a problem in our Society. Some things are easy to understand in many different ways, as we all express our emotions, feelings and thoughts differently. Also our thoughts and ability to think are limited by the words we know, as not everything can be described, talked our thought about with words, therefore maybe more intelligent things cannot be expressed verbally.
